resident spacious dining rooms, lounges, and a courtyard where they develop friendships
with both staff and peers.
Our interdisciplinary team, including medicine, physician, nursing, social services, recreation, rehabilitation, and dietary, develop a comprehensive plan of care for each resident's specific needs.
Our professional and trained recreational staff assist each resident to develop a schedule of activities that reflects their own interests and hobbies. Queens Nassau provides activities geared to all levels of the residents function, seven days a week. Evening activities are also available. Programs include musical entertainment, birthday parties, candlelight dinners, holiday celebrations, discussion forums, big screen movies, bingo and barbeques. Community Trips maintain a link with the resident’s former lifestyle. Planned outings to baseball games, theaters, restaurants, shopping, swimming and going to the beach, are just some of the special highlights.
Residents have the opportunity to express their opinions and to participate in decision making through the monthly residents council meeting. Council leaders are elected annually by the residents.
Queens Nassau recognizes the spiritual needs of its residents. Religious services
for major faiths and denominations are provided.
Our experienced social service staff members meet with families and residents to acquaint them with our services and to help them deal with any adjustments issues that may arise after admission. Resident and family counseling are provided. Discharge planning for their residents is an important function of each social worker.
Our social service staff is available to help resident or families to complete Medicaid or SSI applications.
Queens Nassau encourages families to participate in the resident’s life, as much as possible. Liberal visiting hours provide flexibility to family visitation. Families are invited to attend the interdisciplinary care planning meetings. Support groups for family members are offered quarterly as a forum for sharing concerns and for receiving emotional support.
Our dietary department under the direction of our licensed Dietician and Food Service Manager create delicious kosher meals with special emphasis given to satisfy residents’ individual preferences. Menus are often modified based on input and suggestions from our resident’s food committee meetings. The staff monitors all therapeutic requirements and special dietary needs very carefully.
